1 :
My daughter is 17 years old and walks pigeon toed which seems to get worse.
Could you give me advice what I need to do?
|
2 :
I am working at a 6 day exhibition standing and walking on a hard concrete floor
all day every day and I just wondered which insoles will be best for cushioning
the balls of my feet which is where I get most pain?
Perhaps you can
suggest something?
|
3 :
Please can you
help? I have been told I am flat footed and have been given insoles from my
local NHS podiatrist. They have a specific sizing, which is 4 degrees for the
forefoot and a 2 degrees for the left rearfoot and a 4 degrees for the right
rearfoot. These are very cumbersome and very hard to fit in most shoes. Can you
tell me if your insoles would be more suitable?
|
4 :
I have recently had surgery on my knee for a torn cartledge. I still have some
discomfort and could you reccomend either a shoe or inner sole to help? The
hospital told me that I also have level 3 arthritis and will suffer pain in
varying degrees. My work involves walking all day with some kneeling and
climbing. Most of the time I have to wear steel toe cap boots.
|
5 :
I have worn the same orthotic insoles which were made for me in 1996 by a
plaster cast slipper method, as I had painful knees towards the end of the day.
My doctor thinks I have a trochanteric bursa and suggests gentle exercise. Will
having new orthotic insoles help me when I exercise. The 1996 insoles corrected
my knee pain which I think were made to order -- Your thoughts would be
interesting.
|
6 :
I currently use a pair of Gaitway foot orthoses in all of my shoes to correct a
fallen arch in one of my feet. I am finding it extremely difficult to locate a
replacement pair. Can you suggest where I can find them or an alternative?
|
7 :
My daughter (12) and I both own a pair of Ugg boots, and although in all our
other shoes they appear normal, after just a few times of wearing our Ugg boots
we notice they have leant over as if our feet are going over as we walk. It is a bit
hard to explain, sorry. I was wondering whether there was any support to put
in the Ugg boot to rectify this as it not only looks awful as you're walking, I
am worried that our ankles may get used to this flexibility and cause us
problems in the future?
|
8 :
I bought a pair of winter boots in a sale before the summer. The shop is now closed and the boots
are one size too big for my feet. Can you recommend an insert that can reduce the
size of my boots?
|
9 :
My 16 year old son is a welsh long distance runner. He has recently started
complaining of pain around his achilles when exercising. Pain free when resting
and minimal pain when walking but very painful when runninhg and after exercise.
Should I buy a support?
|
10 :
I wear an insole because my foot pronates and I also have a high arch. Can you
tell me which insoles would be the most suitable as I need to buy some new ones?
|
11 :
I run regularly and pro-nate causing damage to my toe joint and the top joint of
my metatarsal. Can you suggest anything to go in my shoes?
|
12 :
Where, near Dorset, can one have individually made arch supports to relieve
back pain?
|
13 :
Do you sell any
shoe insoles containing no manganese or manganese oxide.
|
14 :
I have purchased an Orthaheel Wave sandal, and now, that Winter is fast
approaching, I decided to buy a pair of Orthaheel Orthotics.
However, my
problem is to which pair is the most ideal for me? I am 21 years and
flat-footed. I work in an office, and in the evenings I like to go for a walk or
attend the gym.
|
15 :
I am currently training for a marathon and am experiencing some leg pain. I have
high arches and run in 'Neutral' shoes, which I have been fitted for, but
think that the problem on my right foot is far more pronounced than my left. My
right foot supinates to the point where it also rotates I think, and I am
developing a stress injury in my hamstring. Can you help?
|
16 :
I have been having treatment for lower back pain with a chiropractor. I also
suffer from sharp pain on the upper part of my foot, going into my front
ankle. I have a very high arch. My chiropractor recommended getting full insoles
(mouldable for a supernate arch). Can you help?
|
17 :
I had recently been on a consultation session at BBC. I have a flat feet and was
told to wear an arch support (Vasyli pro regular) half length.
I wanted to know if
I can use them in my running shoes as well for running (I wear a New balance Gel
shoes)
Or do I need to buy one for regular /office/casual shoes and a
different pair for running/walking shoes? |
18 :
I have arthrisus in my mid foot and I am looking for a slim orthotic ie Carbon
Fibre or hard plastic to hold my foot near ridged.
|
| 19 :
I have been prescribed and have insoles for flat feet but I am still in pain. I
have worn these for quite a while now. What do you suggest? Should I go back and
see the consultant who prescribed them? Can I buy new ones for some quick
relief. My feet really hurt and this also makes me feel really drained because of the
pain? |
20 :
My husband was involved in an rtc 30 + years ago. He is now aged 50 and his job
involves walking and carrying but he has started to roll his foot outward
walking more on his 5th metatarsal, resulting in him being in agony by the end of a 12
hour shift. Please can you tell me what you would recommend to go in his work
boots? I can find lots of insoles for the roll inwards foot but nothing for the
foot that rolls outwards.
|
21 :
I'm currently in training for a marathon but I am experiencing a number of
issues with my feet. I believe I have very flat feet and while walking and
running my feet will land at close to 45 degree angles. As a consequence I have
numerous blisters on the inside arch of both feet. On the left foot I also
experience ligament strain around the inner ankle.
My runnning shoes are
Brooks (Unverisal Platform pro GTS) that were suggested from a specialist running
shop after seeing my running style, computer tested i.e pronate assisted.
I
was going to look at inner soles as the next step so would welcome any
advice.
|
22 :
I am a chiropractor and I often suggest the wear of orthotics. It
takes about 3 to 4 months to have an appointment with the podiatrist. I would
like to know what kind of insole I should recommend to a patient with
hypersupination of the feet. He works on hard floor and has a very poor feet
shock absorption.
|
| 23 :
About 7 years ago I bought a pair of orthotics from the Scholl shop in Newcastle
Upon Tyne. They cost over £100, they had a black cushioned surface, carbon
middle and a black lacquered top. They have served me well but are wearing thin.
I'm having problems replacing them as there are no Scholl shops as such
anymore. A visit to a local foot clinic resulted in a pair of othotics were
made for me but they aggravated all the knee joint heel and hip problems. They
were adjusted but to no avail. I am currently wearing a pair of doc optics from
boots although not perfect are better than the custom made ones. I also found on
the custom made ones there was no cushoning on the bottoms. The two visits to the
clinic cost over £150. I don't know what my original othotics were - I can
opnly describe them, where i bought them and how much they cost at the time and I would dearly love to be able to buy a new pair. If you could help or advise I
would be grateful. |
24 :
I wear carbon fibre orthotics which were custom made and fitted by a
podiatrist as I have pronated ankles and was suffering with knee
trouble.
The condition has improved significantly, and I have begun to do
more sport. However, after running my knees are still quite sore. A physio has
advised me that I can get gel insoles to wear together with the orthotics in my
shoes - which will provide added cushioning when doing sport (they mentioned
Spenco). Since the orthotics do reduce the volume in my trainers - I am keen to
find something that I can wear together with the orthotic and does not take up
too much space, but maximises the cushioning and reduces the shock / impact when
running.
I would be grateful if you could advise on the most suitable
product(s)?
|
25 :
I'm pretty sure I'm a supinator as my shoes wear down on the outsides.
I have a high arch with a very slim footprint and I'm forever rolling my
ankles. This last seems to have gotten worse while wearing arch supports
(Superfeet green) and I've read that the ligaments will weaken over time as
they are repeatedly injured. Are there any products you can recommend that will
help avoid this slide?
|
| 26 :
I had insoles made for my feet (from plaster casts). They are plastic and I get painful feet when I wear them now. I have worn a form of othotic since I was 11 and I am now 28. I have wide feet, flat feet and my feet role inwards - I hate buying shoes.
I have bunions that have formed and as I have not been wearing my orthotics they are getting more and more pronounced and painful. I wish I could straighten them is there something that you can recommended?
Also, are the othotics that you can buy online going to be okay to use? |
| 27 :
I would like to know where in London I can get insoles done at a reasonable price.

Metatarsal Pain
|
 |
|
 |
 |
1 :
I get metatarsal pain and also pain in my toes, particularly when I do exercise
like aerobics, hiking and skiing.
A podiatrist suggested wearing arch
support and recommended the Boots brand for everyday wear, but couldn't
recommend a brand for sports wear. Can you recommend a brand for hiking /
gym?
|
2 :
I've lost my metatarsal foot support and need a replacement. I only use this in
the gym for running and wondered whether there was a version, from the range on
your website, you would recommend as better suited to this purpose? Thanks
|
| 3 :
I have recently developed a hard lump which feels like bone but I dont think it is. It is on the right side of my foot just below my little toe. I have worn different shoes most days. It has now started to tingle and become uncomfortable. I suffer terribly with cold feet. I cannot see my doctor being interested in this, hence me asking for your valued answer.
|
| 4 :
I have had pain and swelling for several months, on and off, but constantly for the past two weeks. It is only when walking or weight bearing, under my left 2nd MTP joint and head of 2nd metatarsal, and along all the IP joints of my left 2nd toe. All these areas are swollen, incluing the toe and the MTP and IP joints, which are all tender to touch, but not red or warm, and the overlying skin is normal. What would you recommend - have had a normal x-ray, have tried a foam metatarsal Scholl pad which seems to make it worse? No definite injury or event has triggered this.

Painful Feet
|
 |

1 :
I have very sore lump of skin on inside of heel, swollen, very tender to touch,
no injury but has become worse over last few weeks. Now it is panful to walk or drive.
No other medical conditions.
|
| 2 :
I have a problem when walking for any length of time the balls of my feet ache
start to really hurt until they become almost too painful to walk on, I think
cause is a hard lump of skin running down the middle of the ball. I wanted to
try some inserts but looking at the vast range here not sure which would be
best. Please advise. |
3 :
Please advise on what product can be used to alleviate pain
from the back of the heel of a patient who spent 4 weeks supine after major
surgery. The patient is now able to walk again but has significant pain at the
back of the heels.
|
4 :

|

When playing golf or walking long distances I get sore heels and the top of my
feet get really painful. Can you recommed anything?
|
6 :
I have had a life-long problem with pronation of my feet, especially on the
right side. I do a lot of long-distance walking, and think (thought?) I have a
good pair of boots. But lately I've developed pain on the ball of my foot--not
the arch, for a change--and even the tops of my joints on the second and third
toes are sore, which seems very odd to me. My second toe is quite a bit longer
than my first or 'thumb' toe; and I've begun to wonder if perhaps my boots
and shoes no longer fit me properly. Or there may be some other, underlying
cause?
|
7 :
I have a dull pain under the ball of my right foot which makes it painful when
walking. I play quite a bit of golf.
|
| 8 :
I have been
wearing your Orthaheel sandals for the past 2 days, but itseems to hurt me very
badly and making walking difficult. Is it normal or is something wrong? |
9 :
I have very high arches and over pronate but recently I have developed a pain
that feels like a pebble under the ball of my foot which is causing shooting
pains in the arch of my foot. I have just been to a private podiatrist but he
does not think its morton neuroma because its on the ball of my foot (near the toe
area) not closer to the toes!! I am not convinced I am going to be given the correct
insole - he is going to give me one where the area for the big toe is cut out
(however it is not there I amm having the pain). Im desperate for some relief and I
wonder if you could suggest anything?
|
10 :
I am a 56 year old woman with small size 3.5 feet with high arches who runs
regularly working up to an annual half marathon. After an hour of running I get
numbness/pain in my big toe which is a real barrier to running happily. I am a
neutral runner, and buy good cushioned trainers and have tried many different
makes so don't think it is a shoe problem. What can I do to cushion my feet
more?
|
11 :
The knuckle on my big toe will not bend. I have to bend it myself to get
relief. It is very painful and it seems to affect the rest of my foot.
|

also need to be comfortable & easy to wear?
|
| 13 :
I try to walk about 7 miles, three or four times a week. The problem I have is
that I get a burning sensation in between the toes of my left foot which
makes the walk quite uncomfortable after a while. I can't see any obvious
reason for this. I wear fairly substantial trainers with pointed toes. Does this
contribute and should I get a wider fitting? |
14 :
I have a small, sore lump on the back of my heel, it hurts only when pressed. Could you recommend something?
|

|
30 :
I am 61 years old have never had foot problems, until now. I was told by my
local Scholl shop that I have pronation of both feet. I bought some hard plastic
half soles for my shoes - extremely painful. Exchanged them for Gaitway flexible
half soles, wore them for two months, great - no knee or back pain. Then the
balls of my feet became hot, itchy and aching. Went back to the Scholl shop and
was told I had been wearing the inserts too much or it could be arthritis, stop
wearing the inserts for a week or two and then try again. That was 10 days ago.
The burning has gone away, but my arches ache all the time and my feet are
generally very sore, and the knee and back pain has come back. I don't know
which inserts to buy as the ones I have at present make it impossible to wear
the majority of my shoes (mainly low very heeled shoes, Padders, Hotters, etc)
can you suggest any that are not too expensive as I am living off the State
Pension! One last thing are Fitflops, MBT and Earth shoes any good? I am
ordering a pair of your "flip flops" for the summer.
|
31 :
My one foot has what I was told is drainage problem. It is forever swollen and

foot ball. It gets to be so painful, sometimes I battle walking. The pain runs
up to the the 3 mid toes and makes it impossible to walk.
Could there be
some relief of some sort for my problem feet. I am 43 years old.
|
| 32 :
I have been suffering from severe foot cramping for the last 2 years. It appears to have started after a severe bout of athletes foot. It wakes me up every night after around 2 hours . I cannot get back to sleep unless I get up for 1 hour to allow the blood to flow. I am always up around 7am as the pain is too great to sleep on. The pain goes during the day but I know the cramp is still there but is subdued. Please help. |
| 33 :
My dad has been unwell, lost alot of weight and now has weightloss to the balls of his feet. They burn when he walks as he feels like there is no skin covering over the bone. What can help? |
| 34 :
I find wearing flat shoes (no heel support) makes walking uncomfortable. Have you a product to lift my heel inside the shoes? |
| 35 :
I would be grateful if you could recommend a foot support for the following conditions. I am 23 and have hard skin on the ball of my feet in particular the ball of my left foot which causes significant pain. Furthermore, I have bunions, which at the moment are relatively small and do not cause me any pain. The second toe of my left foot also crawls under. Recently, over the past 2 months I have been experiencing severe foot cramps in my left foot only which occur in my sleep, when sitting, and generally very frequently. I have seen my GP and had some blood tests in relation to the foot cramps but nothing was detected however I continue to suffer from these cramps. |
| 36 :
I saI have started getting very bad pain on the sole of my left foot. This is on the pad between the toes and instep and at times I can hardly walk. I have tried new shoes and socks of various types but to no avail. This problem only started after my foot had been run over by a mobility scooter. I have seen a doctor but he didn't think any damage had been done and no x-ray was taken. This pain is getting worse and I would be grateful for any help and advice. |
| 37 :
I am a keen skiier and have been to see many specialists regarding the pain I get in my feet. I have been advised I have hypermobile feet (my feet bend, the joints are loose), very hypermobile ankles (my feet roll right over), the fatty pad under the ball of my foot has moved to behind my toes (hence is useless) and I have short calves. I have never really worn high heels so this was not caused by high heeled shoes.
I have some orthotics that a podiatrist made for me to try and correct my alignment when skiing. The podiatrist did not comment on the problems with the balls of my feet only the hypermobility in the ankles. Another bootfitter has made me some insoles that address the problems with the balls of my feet but not the problems with my unstable ankles.
The orthotics from the podiatrist have a very hard base and are agony when I am wearing them. My toes turn a variety of colours, the soles of my feet are actually bruised and luminesent red at the end of the day and after a weeks skiing (on a mixture of codeine, paracetemol and ibuprofen) the damaged nerves in my toes tingle for months afterwards. I cannot keep my ski boots on for more that 30 mins at a time now.
I was thinking of trying the Plantar Cushions or the Gel Sheets to try and make up for the lack of fat on the balls of my feet and then maybe I will be able to wear the orthotics. Is there anything else you would recommend? The bones literally stick out the bottom of my feet. |

water tablets during the summer.

I have been
looking at your site for some kind of insole for planter faciitis, as i have
been suffering from it for almost 3 years. I have looked at wonderzorb blue spot

I have a 12 year old daughter with Plantar Fasciitis. She is suffering for the third
time with this complaint and is in severe pain and as a concerned parent I am very
worried. I have put heel pads in the heels and she is resting when she comes
home from school. My doctors just gave me a few exercises to do and keep taking
pain relief.

I think I have Plantar Fasciitis. I work in a cafe so am standing all day. Ss it best to
take some time off? I cannot put ant weight on my heel at all. My calf is now
sore and feels very tight, and my toes are sore as I have to walk on them! I
walk alot but actually I should be doing alot more than I have been. Usually
it is about 20 miles a week, but I am standing most of the day at work.

I started playing tennis six weeks ago. On my first day, I used running
shoes, and ended up with aches on the sole of my right foot. I switched to
proper tennis shoes after the first day. However, the dull pain remianed, and
every morning it aches till I fully warm up my body for the
day.
Yesterday, while practicing tennis, I seemed to have sprained the
same sole of my feet. I could not run around for the ball.
I play tennis
4 days a week for an hour and a half. What can I do?

I have been diagnosed with plantar fasciitis and have for the past 3 weeks had
my foot taped by the physio which is showing results. However I know that over
the Summer I will have loads of walking to do especially on concrete floors and
that whilst I am now getting relief I am concerned that it may flare up again.
Could you clarify the suitability of the Heel-rite day splint as an alternative
to tape as I know due to the fact I will be working away from home it may be
difficult to continue the taping?

I have been diagnosed by my doctor with Plantar Fasciitis. My plantar fascia is
very tender when I touch it but I get more pain in my ankle, mostly the left one
when walking too far or for any amount of time putting pressure on it. I like to
dance but it does affect my ankles. I have seen a product on this website which
is Orthaheel extended slimfit supports. Would this help?

more due to them not making any difference to my discomfort! Is there any advice

I have been to my doctors this week and he has diagnosed plantir fascitis. I
explained that the pain I am experiencing is in the achilles/ back of my heel
area. I am a runner but have not been able to run since xmas due to the pain.
Can plantir fasciitis affect the area I have described or is it more likely
tendonitis? When will I exercise again, are my running days over?

I am getting pain in my right foot arch. It feels like it is swollen but
doesn't look swollen. It is tender to touch.
I have tried ice packs which
have made no difference, and taken anti inflamitories for a week again with
little difference. It seems to be getting better with time. Three weeks ago it
came on and I was limping now it seems to be only slightly better.
What do
you think?

Fascitis due to the pain underneath my foot. I recently started running hence
the injury. I know that there is no magic cure but I am still in pain it is

weight on the left foot. I am icing, resting and taking pain killers any
suggestions?

34 :
I have been told
by my GP I have plantar fasciitis and have been told basically there is not a
lot that can be done - helpful! My symptoms are exactly as described by you! I
have a 35 minute walk to work every day and sometimes have to walk home too! I
usually walk in trainers or walking boots and then change into "regular" shoes
when I get to work. I have been told I need to keep my arches supported at all
times. The main problem is I have very high arches. I have bought orthotics from
Boots which are just regular things. But I can feel there is not enough support
and can actually feel my foot "collapsing" where the arch isn't supported. I
hobble around like an old lady in the morning until it eases off. It's not too
bad when I walk but painful when I stop and then try to move around after a
period of sitting down! Would any of your orthotics be suitable for my high
arches? My GP recommended I go to a sports shop that specialises in trainers
that fit your feet. Not only is that incredibly expensive but I then only have
one pair of shoes I can wear. I would much rather have one or two pairs of
orthotics I can swap around - I'm not that rich!!!!

I am a regular runner. I have developed pain in my right foot only. The pain starts in the ball of my foot (below the big toe) and continues along the underside of the inside of foot to the heel. The underside towards my heel has become very tight and hard with a small painful lump just before the start of the heel. At the moment this pain only affects my running. I was considering buying the Feetlife Orthotics. Please advise if you think they will eliminate the pain and can you recommed a course of action so I will be able to continue my exercise?

My son who is 15 and a runner has been told he has Plantar Fasciitis in his left foot. He has prescription orthotics after having a bimechanical assessment, and now this has occurred, he has been told to do lots of stretching exercises on his calf muscles and feet. How long do you think it will take before the pain will improve? He is keen to get back to running but not sure when he should start. Are the night splints you can buy any good? He also has osgoods slatters and we have been told its all down to his bones growing quicker than the muscles etc. I have spent lots of money on private physio treatment and really can't afford much more. Is it just a matter of time for the orthotics to settle his body down? He has had them for about 4 weeks and started running on them 3 weeks ago but has had to stop again last week. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. |

1 :
I have sent you a question about my corn but I have also got other problems with
my feet. I am 64 years of age by the way. Over the last few years I have noticed
that my toenails have become very thick and horny like so it is quite difficult
cutting them with scissors. Also some have gone a bit yellow looking. Is this a
fungal infection or just an age thing? I have heard that tea tree oil is good
should I soak them in that? Is there anything else I can do? Do I need to
get special nail clippers for cutting them?
|

Can all treatments of an ingrown toenail be done at a podiatrist or is hospital

My toe nail on my big toe has gone half black and the doctors dont seem to
be giving me anything for it.
It has started to spread to the majority of

tablets but only can be prescribed by the doctor.
What would you recommend?
Should I book an appointment to come and see someone at your clinic?

My son is 10 years old and has bad toe nail fungal infection. What can I use for
him and is this product ok for him to use? How much will it cost in total as I am
in Cape Town, South Africa. |
5 :
I have been cutting my nails too short and tapering them with the shape of my
toes and therefore have ingrowing toenails. They do not hurt yet and I think I
have ben doing it for a number of years. I used to run a lot and do hill walking
and used to feel uncomfortable if they were too long.
On my big toes, the
nails seems to be growing inwards more and I'm worried it will get to stage
where it will hurt. The only thing I am doing at the moment is trying to cut it
back, but this is obviously just delaying it and not improving the situation.
The skin around all my toes seem to grow over my nails and I cut my nails
according to this.
How can I get out of this cycle?
I also
have another problem with my toes. The tendons are really tight causing my toes
to be pulled up and bent which I think is claw toe. Is there anything I can do
about these problems?

painful to do anything to it.
My toe nail is very short too so I am

11 :
My right toenail has been yellow and thick and hard to clip for about 18 months.

I am getting very mixed advice about a persistant inrown toenail.
1) have it
removed
2) no need to remove it
3) we will remove the sides of the nails
4) your nails are too healthy to remove
I have tried 18 months with a Chiropodist
who tried packing it. I had adheisive stips to correct the growth and finally cut
the sore nails away (very sore). This seemed to create more vigourous growth of
the ingrown tails.
Vists to the chiropodist are now every 3 weeks.

I took toe nail clipping to the doctor, and they were sent to the lab as the tip
of my big toe was sore, and the nail was a bit yellow. I have had to go for blood test, dont
know why yet, but toe is not so bad now. Underneath my 2nd or 3rd
toe is very painful when I walk, not at the tip but further down. Can you tell me
whats happening? There is also sweaty with an odour.

I have a thickness on my big toe on both feet in the corner. I bathe them often. I
dont know if it is a fungus as it is discoloured it never goes away. Is their a
cream I could use I wont take any tablets |
23 :
For over 20 years, as far back as I can remember, my little toe nails have
been thick and dark. In addition one of my big toe nails has a dark vertical
stripe through it although the nail itself is not thick. Each time the toe nails
are cut, they grow back as before. The nails and toes are not painful, the skin
around the nails is not inflamed and the condition has not spread to any other
nails. Looking on-line at symptoms of fungal infections I don't believe it is a
fungus as there is no pain, swelling, spreading, no yellowing etc. Please can
you advise as to what this could be. I have noticed that lots of people
(friends, people in the streets, on trains etc) also have dark little-toe nails.
Can this be cured?
|
24 :
I have been suffering continously from my toe nail going into my skin and it gets
infected and very painful. I heard recently from my doctor back
from my home country that there has been some kind of product that has come out
which you insert between the nail and the skin the nail goes into and the idea
is to lift the nail up and gradually prevent from going inside the skin. I was
told that it has come out in Italy but my doctor did not know the name for it. I
was wondering if you have heard and if so please recomend the name of the
product so I can look for it and buy it.

I have had fungal nail disease for some time now (approx. 7 years). My big toe nail

| 26 :
Re Ingrowing toe nails. Is it possible to buy glue to hold the piece of cotton wool "tucked" into the edge of my ingrowing toenail? My Chiropodist uses this but the cotton wool on one side easily comes out when cleaning the toenails. He uses a dark brown glue /solution. I am also wondering if there is a colourless version as the brown is somewhat unsightly. This has been an ongoingproblem for many years. I have no other health issues ie diabetes but do wear orthotics and have had two hip replacements at the ages of 55 and 61 (I am now 63). |

Foot Blisters

 |
1 :
I started a get fit campaign this Monday, and started a gradual walk on my
walking machine. I stupidly forgot that I already had purchased a new set of
orthotics (I have flat feet), and went ahead and put my old pair in as
well.
The result was Tuesday - huge blisters on the instep, which I treated
by piercing with a sterile needle, and bathing in salt water, and then using
savlon overnight.
No problems. Wednesday, I walked again (8 klms) and
overnight the problems became severe, although I used the same
treatment.
Now, I can't walk except on the sides of my feet, and the serum
is constantly there, despite the piercing. The area is extremely sore, and I
can't wear shoes.
HELP PLEASE!

longer runs that my little toes naturally curl underneath my 4th toes and are

comfortably and not irritate during my run. What would you recommend??

Please advise what treatment or prevention products I should use. I play 5-a-side
football twice per week. I wear the correct duarble astro-footwear and apply
cushion plasters to the ball of my foot and the base of my big toes.

friction and this leads to blisters. The skin can become quite hard, can you

A few years ago i suffered fractures to both my heels and as a result of this I now have scar tissue from my operations in the central heel area. Because of this when I hill walk I suffer terrible blisters over the thin scar tissue. As the skin there is already very thin I am concerned that many more blisters will result in there eventually being no skin to heal. I have tried compeed and hydrocolloid dressings but these only last for a short while. Due to the change in shape of my left heel this one is more prone to rubbing on the back of my boot and ends up in more of a state. Please could you recommend one of your products to me? |

down to the goverment hospital and nothing could be done. She recovered from
pain a bit, but now there is a thick calous formed and very sensitive and i am

What is the youngest age that surgery for bunions would be performed? My daughter is fourteen and suffers from bunions and it is quite often painful. We have used creams and splints but she is still having problems with them.

| 17 :
My bunion itself does not really hurt that much. It rubs when I walk, but with orthotics in my boots I can walk at least 5 miles before it is a problem. The ball of my foot gets very uncomfortable and I wonder if this is due to the bunion. Surgery has been suggested but as I can still walk some distance and I am not in terrible pain, I wonder if surgery is the answer. I am 65 years old with a bit of arthritis in the toe and my circulation is not what it should be. I hear conflicting opinions and would like to hear yours.
I wear orthotics because of dropped arches and they are a great help, particularly with hammer toes, but I feel that I need quite an adjustment for the effects to be as good as they used to be. With orthotics, is it best to have them specially made or is it just as good to buy them on-line?
Any advice you can give would be very greatly appreciated. |

I am waiting to have bunion corrective surgery, but my foot has become so much worse over the past few months that I cannot now walk very far. I bought a bunion splint for night time, and was wondering if there is one to be worn during the day time? I cannot seem to find any. I saw a podiatrist about the pain I am in and she said my second toe has become almost dislocated, and it is now bent, like a claw. My big toe is moving very fast underneath this second toe. I was born with bunions on both feet and had an unsucessful operation on my other foot 30 years ago. Can you please suggest anything? I am getting very depressed about my lack of mobility. |
