Athletes Foot
Athletes Foot
Athletes Foot is a fungus infection affecting the outer surface of the skin (epidermis), though it may invade the deeper surface (dermis) in special circumstances.
Athletes Foot can manifest itself in a variety of forms. It may start as small bubble like eruption (Vesicle), which if removed reveals red glazed skin beneath and frequently will cause a small cut in between the toes.
Athletes Foot appears commonly between the small toes and causes soreness and
itching. Athletes Foot can also appear as an inflammation eczematous type spreading from between the toes to the ball of the foot. The rash appears as a dry scaly skin.
The rule of thumb for treatment is if it's wet, dry it and if it's dry, wet it.
Treatment for Athletes Foot
The area affected by the fungus must be kept cool and in the light
whenever possible, as this environment is not liked by the fungus and
therefore it will not thrive in it.
You should also soak the foot in a solution of salt and water, which yet again helps to provide an unappealing environment for the fungus.
Recommended products for Athletes Foot
The use of anti-fungal topical application is highly recommended. The most effective preparation available is
Lamisil.
